One-day Sesshin

There will be a One-day Sesshin at NZC on March 9th. Fees are $40 for members and $50 for non-members. Lower rates are available for those with limited income. Call (402) 551-9035 or e-mail heartland@prairiewindzen.org to register.

Zen Meditation Workshop

A three-hour workshop in Zen Meditation for the beginner, including instruction in sitting and walking meditation that harmonizes body, mind and breath.

Taught by Rev. Nonin Chowaney, abbot of Nebraska Zen Center / Heartland Temple at Nebraska Zen Center on Saturday, March 23rd, from 10:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. For further information or to register, either e-mail NZC at heartland@prairiewindzen.org or call 402-551-9035.

Buddha's Birthday

We'll celebrate Buddha's Birthday with a special service on Sunday, April 7th at 10:00am. After service there will be a dharma talk followed by a pot-luck lunch with birthday cake and ice cream. Everyone is invited to attend.

Two-day Sesshin Dosho Mike Port

There will be a Two-day Sesshin, led by Dosho Mike Port, at NZC on April 13th-14th. Fees are $40 per day for members and $50 for non-members. Lower rates are available for those with limited income. Call (402) 551-9035 or e-mail heartland@prairiewindzen.org to register.

Dosho Mike Port is a Soto Zen priest and a transmitted disciple of Dainin Katagiri-roshi. He has also studied with Ikko Narasaki-roshi, Tangen Harada-roshi, Thich Nhat Hanh, Shodo Harada-roshi, and Daido Loori. He is currently involved in koan introspection with James Ford. His current teaching/practice project is Wild Fox Zen, Transforming Through Play Temple.

Remembrance Ceremony

A special service dedicated to deceased sangha members, relatives, teachers and friends will be held on Sunday, May 5th, before dharma talk.  Either bring photographs of those you would like to remember or write their names on small cards to place on the Buddha hall altar (we'll have cards at the temple).

NZC Closed

Heartland Temple will be closed over Memorial Day Weekend from Thursday evening, the 23rd, through Tuesday the 28th. The temple will re-open with morning sitting and service on Wednesday, May 29th.
